New Rails movie with sound and sugar
The original Rails movie left jaws hanging and had developers all over the world stepping through it in slow motion to take it all in. But that was then. Rails 0.5 looks almost primitive from the eyes of a developer working with Rails 0.13. It was high time to rectify both that, the lack of narration, and the notion that Rails is all about Scaffolding.
So allow me to present: The New Rails Movie! It's 50% longer, but shows at least 150% more. And you get my enthusiastic whoops! speak from the Brazilian FISL 6.0 conference where the movie premiered:

Cela fait une bonne semaine que j'ai d�couvert Ruby on Rails. Quelle merveille !
C'est d�cid� je me lance dans mon premier d�veloppement.
Il faut que j'apprenne tout depuis le d�part. Ca va �tre difficile.
Pour d�buter, j'ai choisi Instant Rails pour installer facilement un environnement pour d�velopper. Bas� sur l'excellentissime EasyPHP pour le manager (avec quelques trucs en plus pour RoR -Ruby on Rails-). On peut d'ailleurs jouer avec Typo (Syst�me de Blog) tout de suite apr�s l'install, bidouiller un syst�me tr�s basique mais suffisement avanc� pour enregistrer des recettes de cuisine.
Pour l'�diteur, j'�tais habitu� � Editplus, mais je vais essayer RadRails, un �diteur bas� sur Eclipse mais avec seulement les outils n�cessaires pour RoR.
J'ai aussi install� RoR sur un serveur Debian tr�s facilement avec apt-get. De nombreux paquets sur les mirroirs sont disponibles, y compris pour les versions stables de Debian.
La documentation est tr�s obscure pour moi... M'enfin, c'est toujours comme �a au d�but !
Tr�ve de blabla, c'est parti ! "

RUBY ON RAILS, DEFINITION :

Ruby est un langage de programmation interprété entièrement orienté objet. Sa syntaxe, qui se rapproche de celle d'Ada et Perl, propose des fonctionnalités proches de celles offertes par Smalltalk, et réinvestit des idées de Python, Lisp et CLU.
Yukihiro "Matz" Matsumoto a commencé l'écriture de ce langage en 1993 et a publié une première version en 1995. La syntaxe de Ruby est cohérente et conçue pour éviter autant que possible les mauvaises surprises, selon le principe PoLS (Principle of least surprise : principe de moindre surprise). Le nom Ruby n'est pas un acronyme, mais un jeu de mot sur Perl. La dernière version stable est la 1.8.4 (décembre 2005)
